Day one: life on the farm

By karakaejames. Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Vacation Day One began at 3:45 am.

That’s right, it does exist.

We drove over to the Norman’s to drop off Jack.  They’re graciously keeping our wonderful son for the next two weeks.  Chris got out of bed at 5:00am to take us to the airport.  Jack wasn’t so happy to see us go!

After a LOOOONG day of flying, we finally arrived in OKLAHOMA!! My parents picked us up and we were off to Purcell, OK! We stopped for dinner at Rodney’s Pizza, the BEST pizza in the world.  HANDS DOWN.

As if I wasn’t stuffed enough already, we stopped to get the best sno cone in the world.  HANDS DOWN.

We had a great day hanging out with my parents on the farm! It’s quite a change from the OC, but fun to be home for a bit.  Tomorrow we’re heading to my brother’s to see our baby niece for the first time.  I can’t decide if I’m more excited to kiss her cheeks or go to Israel.  We’ll see.  :)

I’ll leave you with this, what is outside our window as we go to sleep tonight….

Goodnight from the farm,

I GOT A JOB!

After the complete faith move to California, and searching and searching….I finally got a job! I’m very excited.  It’s at House of Blues in Anaheim.  The cool thing is, that it’s on Disney property so I get Disney benefits also.  AWESOME!

I’m stoked about this opportunity! The venue is really cool and such a good fit for me.  I’m pumped to get into it and hope I will enjoy it!

Thank you to everyone for your prayers!!!

Football Blog

By karakaejames. Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

I attended my first OU-Texas football game this weekend.  Yeah I married an OU fan.  How insane am I?? Well, could have been worse….I could have married a Texas fan. The bad part was, during a really good point in the game, I caught myself clapping for OU.  Ouch.  I didn’t mean to…simply got caught up in the moment.  I promise it will NEVER happen again.

However, in my vows I did say “I promise to TRY to be happy when the Sooners win” (yeah I actually did put that in my vows.  I’m weird) So I was just being  a good wife thats all.

We had fun and even though the outcome was not what my darling husband was hoping for, it was a good game and we had a good time.

Oh….and by the way did you see my COWBOYS with the big win???
HOORAY!
Moving on up!

Ok thats enough for my first football blog.  Brook’s starting to rub off on me.

Red Carpet…dogs?

By karakaejames. Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Been searching for a minature version of the amazing dress you just saw on the red carpet? Ok…probably not.  But just in case, that’s what Little Lilly does.  They create tiny outfits to match the stars!

I absolutely fell in love with this when I saw it!! I mean who wouldn’t want their dog to be dressed like Hillary Swank or George Clooney? So why not make your dog a special part of your ceremony and dress them to impress?!?!

Now I am obviously a big fan of having man’s best friend as a part of your ceremony. The only problem is…sometimes they steal the show!

Spell it out

By karakaejames. Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

With Summer being in full swing I’ve been thinking about outdoor weddings and some ways to creatively use signage to get your guests where they need to be.  Here are a few of my favorite for the more causal outdoor ceremony or reception.

Now if you’re real creative, just have your dad cut out a peice of scrap lumber and go to work! You can make these look as fancy or rustic as you wish, and use your colors!

Lettering has become huge at receptions as well.  Try something different as far as a cake topper goes, and spell out your names or intials on the table.

Find these that stand up, and get creative with ribbon, colored stamps and anything you can think of!

Also, a personal favorite of mine. A way to bring your new name into your reception and then hang in your new home! Letter Your Legacy (from my dear friends, Adam & Stacy!) will create your name in a very stylish way! Great for a gift table, and excellent for outdoor receptions.

More to come…

Some things I love about weddings…

By karakaejames. Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

What do you love? …like absolutely LOVE? I love love love love LOVE weddings.  They are perfect.  A picture of love the way God intended it to be.  You can’t argue that! God said “it was not good for man to be alone”, so he created Eve in all her beauty.  We were created to live together as husband and wife.

Thank you to the wedding industry for making a big deal out of this :)

But seriously….there are some things I can’t get enough of.  I love photography. The way photographers capture a wedding day is brilliant!

Here are a few of my favorites recently released by The Wedding Photojournalistic Association and The Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalistic Association

It’s all so wonderful! Can’t you see why I love weddings?? What an incredible day of joy and love!
