After almost a year of the adoption process and waiting and waiting, we are thrilled to have matched with a baby boy due in early March of 2016. We have fundraised this year and raised SO much, but we are still short around $10,000. We will have to pay all of this money next week and are expentant that God will provide.

It's been a long and difficult journey, but we are so thankful for God's timing. We can't WAIT to meet our sweet baby boy!

If you'd like to donate to our adoption - you can donate a tax deductible donation here.

advent journey [2015]

The time has come! It's almost time to begin our Advent Journey! I've been planning and anticipating this season for many months and it's an honor to walk through this with so many families. If you are joining us in this exciting journey, welcome! I can't wait to walk with you in teaching our children about the meaning of Christmas!

If you're like me, I grew up not really knowing what Advent meant. It wasn't something I really even learned about until about 5 years ago. So maybe you're seeing the word "Advent" pop up all over the place and you're clueless what it's actually about? Let me tell you! Advent is a season celebrated by many Western Christians churches as a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebrations of the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas. The term is an anglicized version of the Latin word "adventus", meaning "coming".  There are many ways to celebrate Advent: with gifts, lighting of candles, fasting and more.

We chose to do a season of activities and teaching so young children can learn about the true meaning of Christmas in a fun and interactive way. Yes, our advent journey will be filled with a lot of fun but let's keep our focus on the true meaning: the gift of a savior.

Our calendar focuses on family, creating, learning, serving and most importantly JESUS! The activities are mostly geared for children ages 2-8 and we've given you the flexibility to do them to fit your schedule and family dynamic.

The printable version of our calendar is available in our shop for purchase. If you would like to use envelopes, twine and clothespins you can purchase them at any craft store. It's not too late to join us! The printable version also includes the daily reading plan.

Plan ahead so that you know what days are coming and you can have any supplies needed or make sure the activities fit your schedule.

ENJOY this journey. This is not meant to be stressful or add pressure to the holiday season. Have fun and if you miss a day, no big deal! The important part is teaching your children about the meaning of this season and growing a hopeful spirit in them as they learn about their Savior!

Use the resources we provide to help you! We've created this with busy families in mind and we've done most of the leg work for you. Be sure to follow us on INSTAGRAM and FACEBOOK for daily tips and help!

Kingdom Over Following (Because Jesus loves the internet)

I've been on the internet a long time. I fell in love immediately back in 1997 when I first logged on. I started blogging and connecting online before it was even a "thing". From cheesy webpages with bouncing graphics, to chain emails and xanga pages. From Facebook to Myspace and everything in between. I love the internet.

And I think Jesus loves the internet too.

What an incredible tool to reach the world. To share the gospel, to make ripples for the kingdom. To teach, grow and learn from people we would never have the opportunity to come in contact with.

Everywhere we look now, there's a business popping up or the next way to make money online. Now, hear my heart. I don't think theres anything wrong with making money online unless you're selling your children on eBay. But what if we looked at the internet from a new angle? What if we used our gifts to further God's kingdom using this incredible tool instead of being so focused on making money? We've all been given amazing gifts to reach people. For me, I'm gifted with crazy ninja type a skills, and technology is a gifting of mine. I blame that 7th grader who fell in love with the internet and wanted to learn everything about it.

What is your gifting and how can you use it in a new and fresh way? Can you serve a ministry online? Most of my followers are moms, since that's my passion. Moms don't typically have a ton of free time to serve in the community and really use their gifts. But hey, the internet can change that! It seems like so often we are so focused on our own agenda online rather than looking at the bigger picture.

What if we spent more time online focused on furthering the KINGDOM rather than furthering our own following?

Ask God to reveal to  you what your gifting is, and how you can make a difference online. How you can work toward furthering HIS kingdom rather than just your own personal following? I wish I could say I don't struggle with this, but I do. If I lose followers, I worry I did something wrong. I'm super careful about what I say so that I don't offend or step on anyone's toes. But we should be bolding walking out our online lives just like we do our in-real-life lives. I recently shut down my online business so I could focus more on online ministry. I rarely take on sponsored posts or content. It used to be a big source of extra cash, but it just wasn't right for me anymore. That will not be in the cards for everyone, but for us, that was the right step. And how freeing that is.

I want you to feel the freedom that it's ok to work online without making money. It's ok for the internet to be a source of service and ministry. I believe that God is doing big things through the internet! How can you further the Kingdom?

the adoption roller coaster ride

I've been pretty quiet the last couple of months about our adoption. It's been really hard, and instead of talking about it much, I shut down. I've always heard people talk about how hard adoption is, and how it's an emotional roller coaster, and now I get that. We've been riding this roller coaster of emotions and it's been exhausting. I've been afraid to move, breathe and much less talk about it publicly for fear of what will happen.

We are in the "waiting" process right now. To educate you a bit if you don't know much about the process - it's a gut wrenching process honestly. We are sent cases and decide if it's an option for our family. Sometimes we see pictures of a birth mom or the child if they have been born already. You immediately feel attached through their stories, and unless you're just heartless - it's very difficult. You want to take all the kids and want to do more. It's actually pretty frustrating that there are 147 million orphans worldwide but adopting a child is so incredible difficult.

So, we wait. And wait and wait.

We are still around $15,000 short of the amount we will need to bring a child home. After 6 months of fundraising, I was so weary of it all. The Lord provided $25,000 in just 6 short months (AMAZING!!) but I haven't really asked for money or done much for the past month. I've really been asking the Lord what the best steps are for this and how we should handle the financial burden that adoption can be.

I keep coming back to the fact that we as the church, the body of Christ, should be caring for one another. So, if I do nothing else through this process, I hope I can show others what it truly means to be the church. Maybe you're not called to adopt, but you are called to do something. It seems to me that people think if they can't donate hundreds or thousands of dollars, that they don't matter. That's a lie. Even the smallest donation makes a huge impact. It all adds up. If 100 people sit back and do nothing, then nothing will happen. But if 100 people step up and donate $10, that's $1000 closer to LIFE for a child. For a future. For a ripple effect of lives being impacted and changed for God's kingdom.

I ask you, what can you do? How can you make a difference? Maybe it's not even through our adoption, maybe you know someone else that is adopting that you can help. Or maybe it's your time to step up and say yes to the gift of adoption. It will be one of the hardest and most wonderful journeys you ever take.

If you would like to make a donation to our adoption - please check out our "Love Notes for Charlie" fundraiser. We are hoping to complete this fundraiser by Oct. 1 to get us one step closer to our goal! I'll be sharing more info on social media this week about how to donate to that, or you can do it right here on my website.

Once an envelope has been filled with a love note, we flip it to the other side with a heart. I can't wait to see the entire wall filled with hearts!!

Please continue praying for our family and our hearts as we walk through this time. We are so thankful for each and every one of you and your support!!

Make sure you LIKE our adoption Facebook page for updates!

a new name!

Hello friends! Welcome to my new site! I've been considering rebranding for quite some time, but I kept letting people talk me out of it. I spent a lot of time this summer praying about some things I can say no to and what things I should focus more on. My shop was an area that I felt the pull to say no to, so I decided to close that down to create some margin. With closing that down, I felt like this was the perfect time to refocus my website as well.

I'll be using this space to encourage women in areas of marriage, motherhood and ministry. I will also be continuing to share about our adoption. Since I do most of my writing for Thrive Moms, I haven't spent much time blogging in the past couple of years. I can't promise that I will be blogging regularly, but I just wanted to refocus a bit where my heart is.

Of course you can follow me on Instagram for daily encouragement! I've been holding off from using periscope until my rebrand so now I'm super excited to jump on that train!!

Several of you have already said "but you're THE MOM DIGGITY!!!", which is awesome and I love. I just knew it was time to step into a new season since I do so much of my writing away from my personal site. You can all still call me The Mom Diggity :)
