potty training, round three

I feel like we were just here, maybe because we were. Once again, we are starting the potty training journey. I keep finding my crazy 20 month old stripped down to nothing and sitting on the potty. I can barely keep clothes on her, and I've literally had to duct tape her diaper on just to keep one on her at times. My first potty trained at 23 months, and second at 22 months. I knew it was just a matter of time before Makenzi was ready too.

As it happens often with subsequent children, they just learn to fall in line and find their place in the craziness of life. Just to be safe - I always like to find ways to make sure she finds her place easily. I enrolled Makenzi in the Pull-Ups Big Kids Academy and purchased her a pack of Pull Ups with Doc McStuffins on them. Doc is a big favorite around our house!

  • Let your child take the lead. Listen to them, they will let you know when they are ready.
  • Don't push it. Whether they are 21 months or 3 years old, it will happen.
  • Take their personality into account. I have three very different kids, and I made sure to consider each of their personalities in how we approached potty training. Something that might work for one, didn't work for another.
  • Find a method that works for your child - a potty chair, sticker charts, a fancy stool, whatever works! Take them along to pick out what they want!
  • HAVE FUN WITH IT!!!!!!

We are still in the process of trying to get Zoey nighttime potty trained also. So she was excited to get herself a pack of Pull Ups as well! I've noticed it makes a huge difference in her actually getting up at night to go potty because she can easily pull them up and down herself.

Every Kid is Unique. That’s why when you enroll at the Big Kid Academy, you’ll get a personalized “My Pull-Ups®” page with potty training activities and advice customized to your point in the potty training journey. The Big Kid Academy has a world-class library of potty training tips and advice from parenting experts, medical professionals and our brightest alumni: parents who have been there.

I love these resources for parents to help with this exciting (and stressful!) journey of potty training! I hope they are a huge help to you like they have been for me!

Thank you to Pull-Ups for sponsoring today’s post and helping me Potty Train with the Big Kid Academy.
