Since we've been snowed in for a bit, I've had to improvise on our Advent Calendar activities. The parade, live nativity and family breakfast didn't happen since we couldn't get the van up the driveway! I can't believe I didn't put this activity on my calendar to begin with, but I'm so glad I did! Learning the meaning of the candy cane!
I gave the girls candy canes to eat (their favorite part of course!) and a candy cane coloring sheet to occupy their hands while I taught them about what the candy cane means! I found this adorable poem that was so perfect for my toddlers, so I just had to share it with you!
I hope you will take some time to share the meaning of the candy cane with your little ones! It's so great to connect all of the little Christmas icons back to Jesus. I love seeing that my kids know Christmastime is one huge birthday party for Jesus! My girls thought it was sooooo neat that the candy cane is a "J for Jesus" AND a shepherds staff! They caught on quickly and asked a lot of questions about it as we chatted and colored our candy canes. Such a fun activity for those super cold stuck-in-the-house days.
