getting dressed with intention

I'm that mom who stays in her pjs for DAYS at a time. When my husband texts me to tell me he's on his way home, I run to the bathroom to brush my teeth and put on my "fancy clothes" (you know the cleanest yoga pants and tshirt without spit up on it). My idea of getting dressed typically means a nice t-shirt that actually fits me and jeans - if I'm feeling wild and crazy. I was getting tired of living that stereotype. As I suffered day after day from postpartum anxiety and depression, the pjs would stay on longer, my hair would get dirtier and the depression would get deeper.

So, I made a decision. I was going to make a change. I got dressed. Every day. For a week. It was challenging, but it was so very refreshing. Making the decision to intentionally take care of myself make a huge change in my heart. And I found that I liked getting dressed. I felt better about myself, and my mood reflected my clothes. Win/win.

I dare you to take this challenge. Get up and get dressed every day this week. Put on some clothes that make you feel good as a woman, a mom and a wife. Put on some red lipstick to go to the park. Curl your hair for a trip to the doctor. Get wild and crazy.

Through this little challenge to myself, I learned a lot about dressing my "mom body". It only took me 3.5 years to figure that out. I'll be sharing some things I figured out along the way and some styling tips in a few weeks! So stick around!!! 31daysblog
