One of the hardest things about living in Alaska, is figuring out how to enjoy the beautiful scenery and great outdoors, while battling and overcoming the "elements."

Whether it's the snow and fierce winds, or the rain and the cloud cover that makes it impossible to see more than a few inches in front of you, and lands all of the planes for unknown amounts of time...it's safe to say that getting out and going isn't always the easiest thing to do. We have a lot of movie days and do a lot of indoor activities. Weekend plans are always up in the air, because you never know when the sun will come out and plans will change. Because as soon as the sun peeks out, even if it's just for a few hours, everything else that is going on, gets put on hold in hopes of soaking up the "rays."

For us, sunny days are spent grilling out with friends and neighbors...

Enjoying ice cold beverages of choice....
Splashing in the puddles leftover from the latest rain shower...
Pay a visit to the pond to let the dog swim...
Journey up into the mountains to enjoy the views...

Life in Alaska isn't always a vacation. The days are long, the temperature changes like night and day at the drop of a hat. One minute it may be 70 degrees, and 30 minutes later, it may be down to 50. But the opportunity to explore "the last frontier" and live in a place that most people only dream of living, is worth it.
