the sleeping stops
By karakaejames. Posted in Cute Little Parasite in my Belly | 6 Comments »I’m a good sleeper. Ok… a GREAT sleeper. I have slept through my neighbor’s house catching on fire and firetrucks. I’ve slept through MANY thunderstorms (in Oklahoma of course, California doesn’t know what those things are). My dog can jump all over me and nothing. I’m out. My hubby enjoys this because a lot of the time I will chat with him and never realize it happened.
I had worried a bit that I wouldn’t hear my babies cry in the middle of the night, and would be a bad mother because I’m such a hard sleeper. Everyone tells me my sleeping habits will quickly change once I’m a mommy, and I do hope this is the case.
However, this child is already preparing me. As I lay here awake at 3am because it’s “playtime”, I can’t help but cherish these moments. Yes, I will be tired all day and a little annoyed that I didn’t get my 8 hours straight. But, these last few weeks I get to rest. Yes, I’m very uncomfortable, finding it hard to sleep and our little kickboxer is the most active baby of all time. Yes, I hate being pregnant and can’t wait to be done. BUT…this is the last few weeks of me. Just me. I have no little ones crying, having bad dreams or needing mommy in the middle of the night yet. I just lay here and feel her roll and kick. What a blessing that is.
Keep kicking baby girl. Mommy will sleep when you’re all grown up.

Except that when they get older than you lay awake at night worrying about them. Nope, sleeping straight through the night is over

I was a heavy sleeper too.. But when that cute little voice is crying wanting mommy you will know. It’s amazing having someone love you unconditionally the way your child does. You will love it and cherish every moment. It’s a crazy kinda love! The best job ever!

Yes, your sleeping habits will definitely change, and you will even be surprised at how little it may actually effect you. Becuase when you have a little one, you do anything and everything to make them comfortable, if that means you get a little less sleep, then so be it. You will do great. As long as you have a good husband that takes turns and helps out a lot, you will be fine.

You have such a great attitude KK! Your sleeping habits will change and you will find yourself staying awake and leaning in close to your little gal just to make sure she is breathing. The sleepless night can be hard (still going through them ha!) but those moments are just between you and baby. So excited for you!!!!

Since everyone seems to agree on sleep habits changing, I have to tell you that with me… they did not. I have always been an easy sleeper. Once I get to sleep. That’s it. No waking me… and that didn’t change. Thankfully, that gave time for daddy to have bonding time with the girls if they woke at 2am… We were fortunate with the first… SHE got my “sleeping powers” too, and slept forever. In fact, she’d sleep 8pm-9am! What a blessing.
The second one, however… the party girl, loved to get up, chatting, cooing, ready for fun… (that hasn’t changed either) So, daddy learned to somehow WAKE me for those parties from 12-3.
So… maybe you will change, maybe you both will get on the same schedule! Just go with the flow, and she’ll be just fine!

You look great – 35 weeks – woohoo!
God will give you supernatural mommy power to get through the long nights and days… You’re almost done! And she’s almost here!
