What an amazing year we had!!

Here are a few highlights:
*Started a new job at House of Blues in Anaheim
*Brook went on staff at Kingsfield
*Celebrated our 1 year anniversary…a trip we’ll never forget
*Started training to run a half marathon
*Lost 15 pounds
*Held my niece & loved on her. What a sweet girl!
*Took an amazing trip to Israel
*Stopped training for marathon…because…
*WE’RE PREGNANT!!!
*Threw up for 6 months straight. Best 6 months of my life.
*Found out we’re having a GIRL!
*My life began to drastically change as it centered around growing & preparing for this child! Can’t wait to see her face in 2010!!

It’s interesting to look back at what I had hoped to do in 2009. A lot of what I wanted to do couldn’t be done because we got pregnant, but I would trade it for the world!! I did lose 15 pounds before I got pregnant, but didn’t run the half marathon, learn to snowboard or get a tan.  I guess there’s always next year!

A few things I’m looking forward to this year:
*Getting this baby out of me!!!!!!
*Seeing my baby girl’s face for the first time
*Learning how to be the best mom I can be
*Losing weight!!!!!!
*Our first trip to Alaska for family vacation
*Growing closer to my husband through the birth of our first child
*Morning sickness to be GONE!

Here’s to an amazing year that will be life changing!!!

wait…i have to give birth?!?

By karakaejames. Posted in Pregnancy | 18 Comments »

I’m not gonna lie….I’m getting a little nervous about the whole delivery part of this pregnancy thing. I’ve never done this before, it’s scary!! We go to our childbirth class at the hospital next week and I’m afraid I’m going to come away from that wanting to keep this baby inside of me forever.  I just don’t care to know all the nasty disgusting details. No thank you.  I’m not sure I want to know everything that happens to me.

Bring on my epidural & tell me when it’s over.

Ok…so I’m opening up the floor this once for you to give me tips, hints and anything to help me or make it easier for me.  So bring it on, because I’m not asking again.

weigh to go!

By karakaejames. Posted in Pregnancy | 3 Comments »

A couple weeks ago I blogged about going on a strict all water diet.  Well…it worked!!  I weighed in at the doctor yesterday and only gained 2 pounds in two weeks!! I had been retaining water which was making my weight sky rocket.  Not a fun thing to see on the scale.

I listened to way too many people during my first & second trimester of “you’re pregnant…you can eat whatever you want”.  Ummmmm NO YOU CAN’T PEOPLE! You can eat whatever you want if you’re willing to gain 5 thousand pounds.  I however, was not interested in doing that! So I’m working a lot harder in the third trimester to keep my weight down, blood pressure down, and water retention down.  So far so good.

Now I need to go get some ice cream to reward myself :)

merry christmas from sunny socal

By karakaejames. Posted in Family | No Comments »

As a majority of our family & friends suffer through a blizzard, here we are in beautiful Huntington Beach. Just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas….

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! It’s a beautiful sunny day here in SoCal…my kind of Christmas! The huge blizzard in Oklahoma has made me even more happy that we live here on the beach.  I think we’ll go for a walk on the beach today just to remind ourselves how awesome Christmas in California really is!

It’s a little hard to tell in the picture, but the belly is really growing! She’s around 2 1/2 pounds and about 15 inches long.  She gets stronger everyday and it’s so amazing to feel her moving around in there! Before we know it we’ll be seeing her face!

Welcome to the new & improved karakaejames.com!!

For Christmas this year, the hubby & I decided instead of buying each other gifts, we would upgrade our blogs.  Wow…we’re total nerds. Yup. Total nerds. So here you have it! This is what I got for Christmas.  Oh…and a 55″ flat screen tv.  Did I mention that we’re nerds?

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas filled with lots of love, joy, family and Jesus!

Thank you baby for my new blog! I love it, and I hope my readers do too!

my baby daddy

By karakaejames. Posted in Pregnancy | No Comments »

I’ve written before about how ridiculous my dreams have been during pregnancy.  I had another one this weekend that I just felt the need to share.

I have a tiny little girl crush on a certain professional quarterback.

Peyton-Manning

I had a dream that the baby had just been born and Brook & I were taking a walk in downtown Huntington Beach.  Peyton was there!! I asked him if he would take a picture with me & my baby girl so she would know who her baby daddy is.

Ummmm…OK?

Well, he took the picture with us & I framed it and put it in her nursery.  That’s totally normal right? Strange thing was, hubby didn’t think anything about it and all seemed completely normal.

Have you ever had any really strange dreams during pregnancy?

friday belly shot

By karakaejames. Posted in Pregnancy | 2 Comments »

Well I think I’m officially all belly and it’s taking over my body! I’ve grown sooo much in the last few weeks, but a growing mama means a growing baby! I’m to the point that people look at me with that “awww poor thing” face, but it’s nice that people help me open doors, carry stuff to my car, etc.  Can’t beat that!

It was a rough first week in my third trimester.  Still been pretty sick, but it could be worse! It could always be worse…I’m so thankful to have a healthy growing baby girl.

28 Weeks!

a different kind of christmas

By karakaejames. Posted in Family | 4 Comments »

The Holidays have been a little different for us the last couple of years since moving 1500 miles from our families. Last year we spent Thanksgiving alone and had steak. Talk about a quiet Holiday. We were lucky enough to be able to go to OK this year for Thanksgiving, but working for a church…Christmas is never a good time for us to get away.

My parents will taking the trip out to Cali again this year for Christmas, and B’s parents will be here the week after Christmas.  I’m so thankful for parents who care enough to make the trip out to spend Christmas with us! Although I’m sure this Christmas will be consumed with planning for Baby Girl & setting up her nursery…I’m fine with that! I am looking forward to next year and all it will bring with a little one crawling around trying to pull down the Christmas tree and being more excited about the boxes her gifts come in than her actual gifts.

The mother-in-law blogged about Christmas Traditions and wanting to start some new ones with a new generation coming. I agree!  I loved Christmas as a kid (and still do!) and always looked forward to the fun traditions with my family. I want Christmas to be a wonderful time for our kids, and start some traditions that we can pass on to our kiddos.

What are some traditions that you and your family do?

What are some things your grandparents did/do for you, or you do for your grandkids?

I made the mistake of going diaper bag shopping yesterday.  OOPS.  Kinda fell in love with one bag.  And…then I saw the price tag.  Bummer.

There’s no way I can talk hubby into being ok with buying me a bag that costs $90.  Although I will use it everyday for several years.

I will keep trying to convince him.  But for now let’s all look at it and say “awwww…it’s so cute!!”

I’ll keep dreaming, saving my money & thinking of ways to convince the hubby that our baby girl will sleep through the night & be the easiest baby ever if her mom has this bag!
