june 17, 2009

By karakaejames. Posted in Cute Little Parasite in my Belly, Random | No Comments »

I ran across this text message conversation between me and hubby from June 17, 2009.

B: What do you want for your birthday?

KK: A new case for my iphone. Or a baby.

B: Ha. Ok, so if I get you a cover and you get pregnant then what?

KK: Then I’d be one happy girl.

B: Oh yeah? One of these days you will be!

Little did we know it was going to be THAT day. Our little munchkin is due March 12, 2010. You do the math.

See what trouble a little texting can get you into?

Ps. I got both my birthday wishes ;)

here we go again!

By karakaejames. Posted in Ministry | No Comments »

Yesterday was the last day in our permanent location at Kingsfield Church! We have sold the building and we are getting out into the community. It’s interesting because after doing set up & tear down for so long at LifeChurch, I swore I’d never do it again. Little did we know…this is what God was calling us to do. And I’m totally excited about it too!

We will be meeting at the theater in a very busy shopping area. We did a “practice” setup and tear down on Saturday and it went great! Sure there will be little kinks to work out along the way, but I know that God will show up and things will go GREAT!

I intended to take a bunch of pictures on Saturday to post, but I left my camera at home and only took one with my phone. Here is the inside of the theater (prior to the stage being set up).

main theater

Please be praying for the church as we move into this new and exciting phase to really reach out to the community! Pray for our staff as there is a LOT going on and to prepare for this huge move. Pray that everything goes smoothly our first weekend.

lets get excited!

By karakaejames. Posted in Extremely Wise Thoughts, Ministry | No Comments »

Why don’t we get more excited about Worshipping our God?

I can’t stop watching this video. It’s so cool to see how thousands of people can come together and get so excited about something! Wouldn’t it be great if the church looked more like a Black Eyed Peas concert?

Let’s get excited about what our God is doing!!!!!!!!

picking a name!?!

By karakaejames. Posted in Cute Little Parasite in my Belly | No Comments »

Who would have thought choosing a name for a child would be so difficult!! I am at a loss!

We are going to keep his/her name a secret until the day they arrive, because frankly I don’t care to know that your sisters high school boyfriend’s moms cousin was named that and how much you hate the name.

I just didn’t realize it was going to be so hard to choose one. At the rate we’re going, we might not even have a name picked out by the time March arrives. Hmm…March…? Nah.

baby names

I let Brook name our dog, and we ended up with Jack Bauer James.  A pretty strong name I think. If it’s a boy, we might go with Jack Jr. since we love our dog so much.

Please give me some name ideas!!

If you win, we’ll let you buy us an all expense paid trip to Hawaii and you’ll get to keep the kid for a week! What a deal!

Ready…go!

baby update!

By karakaejames. Posted in Cute Little Parasite in my Belly, Pregnancy | No Comments »

We went to the doctor this morning for our monthly check-up on our little one and just wanted to fill everyone in on how things are going!

The doctor had a little trouble finding the heartbeat, which about stopped MY heart. But then there was our little one, hiding from us and the doctor jumped she was so alarmed at how strong the heartbeat was! Uh oh…we already have a little trickster on our hands. Still in the womb and already playing hide and seek!

As of today, I am 15 weeks 3 days. We will find out the sex of the baby on October 20th!! I’m soooooooo excited and ready to know if we have a boy or a girl! I’m ready to SHOP :)

Here I am at 15 weeks…finally starting to look more pregnant than bloated! (And yes I look exhausted because this child is already wearing me out!)

15 weeks

Thanks to our family, friends, and blog friends for your prayers! We so appreciate them, and we are so thankful to have a healthy, growing baby & mama! Keep them coming!

Why does everyone compare your precious baby to fruit?? I know it gives you something familiar to compare the size to, but why not use something a little more fun??

Finally…someone came up with a great way to compare the size of a growing baby in a way that MEN can understand and appreciate.

As of today, I have a precious little baseball growing inside of me! HOMERUN!

a real life jim & pam

By karakaejames. Posted in Random | No Comments »

I must admit it. I’m OBSESSED with Jim & Pam.

jim_pam

They are one of my all time favorite “fictional” couples.  Fictional? Ha. More like real. I love them for so many reasons. They are hilarious. They have a blast together. And most importantly…they remind me of MY real life relationship.

Brook and I got hooked on The Office together about two and a half years ago. We were just ‘friends’ (a term I use loosely for us at the time…), and worked together in the same office.  We were the Jim & Pam of our office. They were just friends, we were just friends. But deep down there was sooooooo much more…and everyone knew it but us! It was one night while watching The Office and hanging out that my now hubby laid that first kiss on me, just as Jim did to Pam one random night after work!

Brook & I went on to get engaged. So did Jim & Pam. (It’s hard to tell which one I was more excited about…)

Brook & I went on to get married.  Well…Jim & Pam are still working on that part.

Brook & I are having a baby. SO ARE JIM & PAM!!!!!!!

I was so excited at the end of last season when we found out they were having a baby.  Yes, I wish they had waited until after the wedding…but it’s tv. Yeah, you would have thought my two best friends in the whole world were having a baby.

Don’t tell Brook, but this is the real reason I wanted to have a baby. Gotta keep up with my favorite couple. And who wouldn’t wanna be preggo buddies with PAM!?!?!

wrecking your marriage

By karakaejames. Posted in Marriage thoughts | No Comments »

Lifechurch.tv is currently doing a series called “5 Easy Steps to Wreck Your Life”.  This week was “How to Commit Adultery” Craig did a great job of presenting this message in a creative, sarcastic and honest way.  I recommend you checking out this message whether you are married or not.

I am lucky, because I have an incredible marriage.  I know we’ve only been married about 18 months, but we have still been incredibly blessed. I have a faithful husband.  I have never once worried about his faithfulness to me.  I’ve never checked his text messages, e-mails or facebook.  I don’t have to.  That fear is not there.  And you know what?? IT SHOULDN’T BE.  Just because those pretty single girls at church think the worship pastor is cute, I know that his heart is only for ME.

kkb_2193

That’s a rare thing.

63% of men will have an affair by the age of 40.

55% of women will have an affair by the age of 40.

Ouch. I don’t like those odds.  That’s why it is so important in your marriage to set boundaries.  If you are newlyweds, or about to be married…set boundaries NOW. Brook & I don’t ever ride in a car with someone of the opposite sex (we do have a few exceptions that consist of basically brothers/sisters, and always talk about it before hand).  We don’t go out to eat with someone of the opposite sex without someone else present to keep us accountable.  We don’t do this because we’re tempted to have an affair, we mostly do it for appearances. It would simply not look well on my husband character if he was out having coffee with another woman from the church.  But if I am present, then no one questions our integrity.  And that is very important whether you are in a place of leadership or not.

Are you struggling in these areas of your marriage? Have you maybe not crossed the “line” yet, but you’re sure flirting with it? And flirting a little too much with that cute guy or girl in your office? Be open and honest with your spouse and GET HELP.

Chris & Cindy Beall are an amazing couple that Brook and I look up to.  You can check out Cindy’s blog at www.cindybeall.com, and all week they are doing videos here to help people that might be in a tough or sticky place in their marriage. They have a beautiful story of forgiveness and how only God can heal a broken marriage.

This is something I am very passionate about.  I know I don’t have a ton of experience in the marriage department, but we’re doing the best we can.  If you need someone to talk to, please feel free to e-mail me.  Go find someone to help you.

Do all that you can to strengthen an already healthy marriage, or rebuild a hurting one! God is a God of forgiveness and redemption!!!

Check out the message online this week here.

remembering

By karakaejames. Posted in Random | No Comments »

I was a senior in high school. Driving to a college class I was taking when I heard it announced on the radio.  I saw the second plane hit on a tv on campus.  I will never forget that day and all the lives that were lost.

I’m thankful for our freedom today.

I have twice visited ground zero, and it was amazing to see the names written on the wall. To see the remains.

Wall of Heros

To see the cross. All that was left was a cross, with a bit of airplane wrapped around it.

ground zero cross

A reminder of all our Savior has already given up for us, and that He is still in control.  We have eternal freedom in HIM alone.

what I have to look forward to

By karakaejames. Posted in Joys of Motherhood, Random | No Comments »

This week has been a busy crazy one…and I’ve been s-i-c-k. But today my spirits were lifted a bit by my good friend Wendy.  I know her spirits were VERY down after this, but I couldn’t help but get a good laugh out of it.

What Wendy woke up to this morning:

food coloring in carpetYes, that’s food coloring.

food coloringWOW. New carpet anyone??

cade in food coloringBut really, how can you be mad at that face??

Wendy, you’re one of the greatest moms I have the privilege of knowing and learning from.  It’s a thrill to go through this pregnancy with you (we’re only a week apart!!), and I can’t wait for our babies to be either best friends or get married :) Keep your head up friend… You’re an amazing mommy!

Oh the joys of motherhood I have to look forward to!! And I’m still excited…
